1. Initial Follow-Up Appointment:
- Typically scheduled a few weeks after the footwear has been delivered. This allows the patient enough time to wear the footwear and identify any issues.
- The purpose of this appointment is to check the fit, comfort, and effectiveness of the footwear in addressing the patient's specific foot problems.
2. Assessment of Fit and Comfort:
- Our pedorthist will examine the fit of the footwear again, ensuring there are no signs of inadequate accommodation of the foot volume, shape, and any deformities, as well as any excessive pressure points.
- The patient's feedback is crucial. They should communicate any areas of discomfort, rubbing, or pain experienced while wearing the shoes.
The follow-up process is integral to ensuring that custom-made orthopaedic footwear continues to meet the evolving needs of the patient, providing comfort, support, and aiding in mobility or pain relief. Regular communication, ongoing assessment, and adjustments are key components of this process.
